DAVE STILL HAS HIS CAN-ROO ATTITUDE

When Dave Wisbey broke his toe while digging out a tree stump, the physical pain was nearly as bad as the financial anguish he suddenly faced. “I began to seriously think about packing the business in,” he recalls.

Up until then, Aardvark Garden Services was getting regular bookings, as word spread throughout Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas about Dave’s “do-the-impossible” attitude. “When it comes to hard or soft landscaping, people call me because there’s no job too big I can’t do” he says. Unfortunately, such single-minded determination brings with it inevitable injuries, and the broken toe came soon after he suffered a serious back injury. “Yes, I was silly. I lifted three sleepers and did my back. Then the toe injury happened. It was almost the final straw.

The business could’ve ended there after 20 years.” However, just as the storm clouds were gathering over his and his family’s head, the cavalry arrived from the unlikeliest of places. “ I was talking to a bloke at our local hire company, and he told me about this brilliant little machine from Australia called Kanga Loader. That was the turning point. I called KANGA direct, arranged a demonstration and purchased a machine from them. That machine not only saved my business, it improved it many areas.” Dave joined the ever-growing fan club for this tough and unbelievably strong Mini Skid Steer Loader from Down Under. “As soon as my toe healed I was back at work with a vengeance.

Kanga Loader is designed so the operator can stand on its back while using it. All the jolting and jumping about and vibrating transfers to your knees and feet – it doesn’t mess with your back like it does if you were sitting down.” “I can still offer my customers the ability to do the impossible and my back is absolutely fine. It’s great getting up in the morning and not feeling like an old man.” So Kanga Loader means one less patient at the chiropractors…but how good is it at achieving Dave’s “do the impossible” philosophy? “Put it this way, just before I got my Kanga Loader I took on a job that involved cutting down five giant conifers, each one over 20 feet tall, and ripping out the stumps. Normally a job like this would take two weeks to complete so that’s what I quoted the customer…but I rolled up with my new Kanga Loader and the job took two days.” A big operation finished in 10% of the time he’d quoted the punter. “With the time savings that Kanga Loader offers, I can move on to the next job without compromising on my “impossible” work ethic.” Dave’s also discovered the unique benefits of Kanga Loader’s famous versatility. “We use many of the attachments. The 4 in one bucket, cement mixer, trencher and the leveller are the big ones for me. Its like a Swiss pocket knife with loads of grunt! It only takes a minute to change them over and the jobs done. It’s a beauty.”

As you can see, the Aussie machine has turned Dave’s life around - of course, he isn’t going to retire to a tropical Island just yet – although the Wonder from Down Under has given him more than just monetary gains. “These days I get home at 3pm every afternoon and spend some more time watching my three daughters playing netball. That’s what its all about, isn’t it?”
